What is Personal Fitness Training?

PT means you exercise one-on-one with your own highly trained instructor beside you to guide, advice and motivate. As a beginner it can be a great introduction to the gym and will soon boost your knowledge and confidence. Experienced gym goers can use PT to take them to the next level of fitness. Personal Training (or PT) is not about someone else barking orders at you. Nor is it only for top-level athletes training towards a major event, or just for Celebes who fancy some pampering. With a personal trainer you will be challenged and have fun at the same time.

Who is PT for?

Personal Training is for anyone who wants to reach their peak fitness level, improve their exercise and fitness knowledge or who finds it tough to motivate themselves. It's also really helpful for anyone with a specific condition, illness or injury who wants to be sure they're exercising safely, such as people with asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure or prolapsed discs, those recovering from surgery or pregnancy.

I have 9 years experience as a fitness instructor & 3 years as a personal trainer. While judo training for the Sydney & Athens paralympic games I gained a wealth of knowledge & skills that I could transfer to my clients. These range from Nutrition, strength & conditioning, sports psychology & physiotherapy. This also gave me the funding to attend a sports massage course & aromatherapy course.

For cardio vascular (CV) fitness & to help shed those excess lbs. I use a wide variety of CV machines, unlike some personal trainers who stick to their favourite ones.

My approach rarely uses fixed machines; I predominantly use free weights, Swiss balls, barbells, dumb-bells and cables. By taking a whole body approach using fixater muscles as well as major muscle groups my client's burn more calories and increase metabolic rate. By choosing functional exercises that replicate natural human movement patterns, such as to bend, squat, lunge, push, press, twist and jump I challenge the body's systems as a whole unit mimicking exactly how the body should work in everyday movement. This approach guarantees not only that you will burn calories and look good, but that you will actually perform everyday tasks or leisure/sporting pursuits much better. If required we can also provide you with a detailed exercise program including exercise photos with descriptions and a written report.
